According to a story on National Public Radio (yeah, I know), a new use for Silly Putty was discovered when graphene was mixed with the said putty. It not only became conductive, it changed its resistance with deformation.
A thin membrane was attached to some probes and a power source to determine if it could be used to detect the footsteps of a spider. Reportedly, the spider would not cooperate for some time, but did eventually pace across the membrane. The results were published, but I didn't bother to look them up. I was hoping for a video!
Ahhh, the possibilities! What will they think of next?
