The NASTRAN I have heard of is a Finite Element package. I cannot quite match it to a mechanical steer by wire project. Please explain.

The developers or agents should be the best source of tutorials and information.

actually its a software to actuate mechanisms.... In my project my initila work is to design and model my system, for this i need to analyse two systems.... i didnt tell earlier but i am replacing rack and pinion with the linear actuators. so i would be analysing the design of both the rack and pinion and the linear actuator in this case.... i dont really know much about this software because i have took some demonstration today from someone, and from tomorrow on i ll be practically doing tht, lets suppose, i try to explain through an example of linear actuator design. as it has a motor with belt and pulley mechanism and a bearing along with the screws, which moves the actuating part in and out, for nastran i ll be considering these two mechanisms, and then providing with the constraints and parameters i ll actuating tht one, secondly, cmaparing it with the racka nd pinion i would draw its design on amdt and then actuate it again by providing parameers and constraints in nastran , then in the end we ll conclude up to tae the best one, obviously linear actuator would be a better choice but we need to do mathematical modeling for which it ll be useful....

Fighting unknown software could be hard.

Contact the developers / agents and put your case. The might allow you a student licence and supply you with the required info.
