Utility Brackets

03/27/2017 2:42 AM

I am tooling up to make utility mounting brackets but it is difficult to come up with a solution if you do not know the problem.

I would appreciate any suggestions for brackets or problems you would like to see a solution for.

These could include sweeping, rotating, positioning or searching mounting brackets for instruments, CCTV,lights, controllers etc.

I've used a lot of different brackets with ball mounts and quickly learned which brands and models actually held their position solidly versus just looking like it would. Any movement after adjusting is a huge no go.

How does one start tooling up for all sorts of brackets? Are you a hardware manufacturer?

I do metal pressings and fabricating.

I have heard some maintenance persons complaining about the scarcity of mounting brackets for instrumentation and I thought that this is something to look into. So I did some research and used the internet and found that there is an astounding arrange of brackets being manufactured but it seems that the technology has stagnated somewhat with very few new ideas coming forward.

It seems that installers fabricate as they need and then forget about it until it is needed again. I am trying to tap into this knowledge pool.

Like with your experience I doubt whether you contacted the suppliers of the brackets you found slipping to get them to improve on it. that is a huge problem to manufacturers as the client just do not support you in the future and you don't know why.

Determining the problem is 90% of the solution.

Thanks for your input.

Not a problem.

Just this year My brother and I developed a universal mounting bracket to solve some a similar issue. It's been doing well for the intended purpose and it proves to be useful in others.

As for the companies who don't hear back from their customers when the product is not up to snuff? That's a tough one. The company should be aware of the product failings. As a customer. I don't have time to wait for them to fix the issue over the course of a year if at all. I'll switch brands or models to save the hassle.

Well if you could come up with a video stabilizer that's light and cheap for a smartphone, that would be great....

...they have these, too bulky and expensive...

they have these, that don't work very well....

These work pretty well but are about $90 and still bulky....

...just a small case that was gyroscopically stabilized maybe....I really haven't given it much thought yet....

This sounds like a very specialized need. I used to be a very active photographer and found that this becomes a real problem when using telephoto lenses.

Looking at the brackets you pasted I would say that a simple monopod should be better than any of these and they are very light and foldable.

Have you tried one yet?

These stablilizers are for filming on the move, following the action.

Yes the problem is that most of these stabilizers are for larger cameras rather than phones....

Cats are always falling out of trees, so a cat rescue bracket would have a huge market - one or more per tree.

You must live near the Catskills?.. we don't have that issue here..

.. we do have rat killing feral cats. These cats have skills. Three of them live under a neighbor's porch.

Interesting 'pathfinder tags' for someone here soliciting customers for brackets. That is what you're doing, is it not?

Re: Utility Brackets

Nope.

I am not soliciting for customers I am trying to determine the need for brackets.

As I mentioned the person who knows what the problem is can best come up with the solution. During my experiences I had encountered very few of the problems because I am not an installer but a fabricator. The persons installing and using the systems know what the problems are and they are spread all over - not easy to reach so I try what is at my disposal this forum.

Around here we use, " The Easy Ad " , " The Penney Saver "

Or old fashioned business cards.

Most of the house front doors have, " No Soliciting " signs posted.
