The local building regulations will call for them if they are needed.

How about a telephone discussion with someone at the Local Authority?

...after all, the specific <...anybody...> who can answer this question with authority will need to be familiar with the local building regulations that apply to this specific building wherever it is on the planet, which information has, after all, been withheld from the forum without reason.

When speaking to this individual, do be polite AND DON'T SHOUT.

It pays to be polite. Take the risk!

Yes all operating rooms are required to have sprinkler systems and smoke evacuation...as well as strategy for 'defending in place' for patients who cannot be evacuated immediately....

It is an issue, whether to douse the open patient or not, but burning alive in a possibly oxygen-enriched environment is no fun either.

Pay your money, and choose your poison.
