Thermoset Injection Molding

Hello

I would like to know the most suitable lubricant for the injection molding of epoxy.This is for the stator encapsulation molding.

Are you sure you are not talking about transfer molding. Thermo-set plastics are usually not injection molded unless you are talking about new specialized machines just for the purpose. Chances are if you need lubricant on such a mold then there is a problem with the mold, either draft, polish or ejection.

Dear grayceng

You are right , I am using a new specialized machine for the injection moulding of epoxy. I contact many people to get a lubricant for this , but nobody could suggest one.

Hi Pinto,

I've been injection molding epoxy for about 25 years. A lubricant for the epoxy really depends on the epoxy type. Calcium Sterates are pretty good for anhydrides (avoid zinc sterates, they will change the reaction speed) and powdered carnuba wax is great for novolac types.

Do you ever use a silicone based release agent? I have used it with casting epoxy, but I have never injected epoxy.
