Didn't the seller offer alternative solutions during the telephone calls?

Well then, you are stuck with buying a new instrument completely. Next time, buy Swiss - they have an obsolescence law that protects the buyers for ten years past announcement of an obsolete Swiss product. That means they have to support the product for ten years past final product serial number date.

IMHO - same law should exist in the UK, the United States, Japan and Germany.

In China and India - caveat emptor.

Interesting, you posted anonymously, then signed your name at the bottom...LOL.

Had you tried "Google" before asking? Ebay?
