Ah, but my salesman from ABC pump co sez that his 4 HP pump is more powerful than the 4 HP pump that the XYZ pump salesman is trying to sell.

Which pump would you recommend?

OK, we know you want an electric motor, not to exceed 4 HP, and "the most powerful".

Do you know what flow rate you would like? What pressure or head?

Do you want a piston, centrifugal, gear, or progressive cavity pump?

What motor speed? 900, 1200, 1800, or 3600 RPM?

Do you want a submersible or piped suction? Flooded suction or self priming?

Are you pumping clear water, sewage, gas, diesel fuel, acid, or some exotic liquid?

Provide some detail of what you are trying to do or solve, and you will be surprised at the advice you will get. If you leave too much to our imagination, well no telling what you will get.

Ried:

Thanks for the reply. Maybe as soon as I get through the nones and the thread I will solve your webb site.

I am trying to find a three horse power electric pump or maybe a four horse power clear water pump.

I desire maximum flow rate (gals per minute times PSI).

I want the pump, regardless of type, that gives me maximum gals per minute times PSI.

Motor speed, you tell me.

I want to suck fresh water out of a tank through several feet of hose or PVC and run it out the other side through several feet of hose.

I will be attending a World War II reunion 9/7 through 9/17.

Yours truly

Gwin

It is a bit of an anomaly. What you require is the most efficient 4 hp pump)

The selection will depend on the setup. ie head or flow requirements.

Please give more information.

If you need to compare your 4 hp to the 4hp of your neighbour you need to compare the duty points.
