The thing on the right looks like a trailer hitch that was cut off. The one on the left indicates that Solar Eagle must have got there first.

the thing on the right? It could be something from the masons 100+ years ago? It appears to have some sort of mortar/stucco on it.

Same here, it was all OK Friday.

I can see some, but not the primary photo or the side view.

No photo here, either. Using desktop at home with Firefox browser.

I've been talking to Admin about another topic but have mentioned the missing images to them.

The original and side images are coming up as "forbidden" because they are from what looks to be a private Google account.

To get the image to appear in the first place I had to open it in a new tab then paste the link. Hmm.. I'll have to find another way.. too easy.

So? If Lyn can still see them? Lyn do you use Google photos or are you just a hacker?

I notice that the bolt is much smaller diameter than the hole it goes thru. Possibly a rubber grommet rotted out from it? It kind of looks like a ratchet mechanism from an extension ladder, but it has two grooves instead of one. Could it be a ratchet mechanism from a farm implement? What was the land you found it in used for? That might give you a clue. If it was near a marina, it might be boat related. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

I see that the bolt has a galv washer. I suspect that the bolt is a later addition for a re-use. I too am puzzled by the lack of fastening points. Unless the wings are meant to be embedded in brick/stone/mortar and the holes take a gate hinge pin.

Now that I can see it . . . . It reminds me of the lower wishbone of a car's front wheel suspension--but it is too small. But maybe that will jiggle someone's memory cells.

I have an old 14' aluminum boat that has a cast bow point/anchor lock that looks similar to that.

That's the problem. There's only one bolt hole that I can see. Same problem I had with all of SE's pictures. It never went on an engine.

Guess what? My new partner has identified these dodads in 3 seconds flat. It is a sort of trivet that old flat irons sat on so that gunk on top of the stove didn't soil the base of the flatiron. They came in several different sizes and patterns.
