About ASME BPE Certified Components

05/09/2018 12:08 AM

Is ASME BPE certified component acceptable in U Stamp vessel ?

I want to use Tri-clover clamp as nozzle end connection for U Stamp vessel.

If Tri-clover clamp is ASME-BPE certified, then can it be acceptable in U stamp vessel, just like ASME B16.5 flange is accceptable ?

If no then what is the way to get it acceptable. ?

<...acceptable...> to what body or organisation (rhetorical question - NNTR)? This is the direction in which the question must be sent, and not a bunch of anonymous strangers in a global Engineering forum who, despite the best of intentions, have:

  • no idea what the intended use of this vessel is to be, and
  • no idea of its size and shape, and
  • no idea of its intended wall thickness, and
  • no idea of the configuration of the other nozzle(s) on the vessel, and
  • no idea of its wetted material(s), and
  • no idea of the temperature range and pressure range of the wetting fluids, and
  • no idea where this vessel is to be installed and used, and
  • no idea of the ambient conditions in the area where the vessel is to be used, and
  • no liability for any advice freely given that turns out to be false, either in commercial law or criminal law.

The best source of information is always the organisation that carries out witness testing in pursuit of burst/collapse indemnity insurance cover. That organisation will have an Engineer/Surveyor allocated to inspect and assess the vessel at regular intervals, to whom structural calculations and drawings might reasonably be sent before construction starts for preliminary assessment before that happens. The best way to find that individual is this: , because the forum has:

  • no idea who that individual is, and
  • no incentive to carry out that task on anyone's behalf.
