ABB ACS800 How to Run in V/HZ

05/24/2018 11:51 PM

I have finished reforming the capacitors of an ABB ACS800, I followed the ABB recommended procedure. Now for testing I want to run the drive in Volts/Hz mode. This drive is configured with a PLC, for testing I need to bypass PLC and simply run in V/Hz mode. Please suggest me what parameter changes I have to do.

One of the parameters needed is the phone number of the local ABB office, which may well be on the Operation Manual that came with the device; if it isn't then a simple internet search can be used to look it up. This parameter needs to be entered into a telephone and the solution to the posted problem will occur as a result of the discussion.

Humour aside, does anyone know how well the proposed method works with ABB? I've never had much luck at all trying to phone manufacturers, but never tried ABB. Might be relevant for me soon, as I recently "inherited" care of an ABB VFD, no documentation as expected, identification and model numbers partly worn off, as usual.

My support from ABB has been 5*****.

Unlike some competitors they don't start with the question - "please provide a PO"

However, I have always had complete model and serial numbers, and was the original purchaser of the hardware.

I called ABB local office. They have the sales Manager’s telephone number who told me that he will forward my call to his service guys.I told him it is not a request for service but some basic information. He did not give me much details. I need to read manual but yes he also confirmed that V/Hz is called scalar .He said yes it can be tested -there will be no problem

I plan to take a backup of the original drive parameters because it is set to be controlled by a PLC but the setup is not the same at the moment therefore the drive has to be tested alone and most probably there will not be a motor connected .I prefer not to touch the PLC,And after taking backup set drive to “factory macro” for testing and later restore back to the original state so it has the original setup for running with a PLC controlled system.
