What are the consequences or affects of incorrect phase sequence in protection relay such as distance, overcurrent or earthfault protection of transmission line.

Nothing I suppose except the phase identification will be incorrect, when fault occurs.

The incorrect phase sequence reflects in both CT and VT signals, thus nullifying the effect on directionality of protection elements.

Dismissal for incompetence is among the possibilities.

If you're talking about paralleling a generator with the wrong sequence, very bad things will happen if the overcurrent relay doesn't trip fast enough.

Anand.....

No please or thank you?

I'm sure your manners are much better really!

Two things... First... Is this a project or home work question?

Second... Do you have any idea what you have just asked?

I can tell from the question that you know very little about the effects of electricity and the dangers they pose and the effects of a short circuit which, if you were knowledgeable, you would know that incorrect phase sequence is a short circuit.

So to enlighten you.. take a look at this LINK

"..you would know that incorrect phase sequence is a short circuit.." No it is not, but it is the leading cause of motors turning in the wrong direction, and in the case of the OP's original question, misoperation of the protective relaying system.

btw- the arc flash demo illustrates what does happen when a dead-short occurs, and what would be the result of connecting two: out of phase, out of sync, mismatched voltage/frequency, etc., systems together.
