Software to detect faults...?

An ordinary PC has internal sensors and cars nowadays have electronics with diagnostics built in. If your gadgets do not have sensors, having software will not help you.

Your software needs to detect a defect and that involves sensors for current or voltage. For example, if your television is drawing more current than usual, it may be an indication of a fault or an impending fault. If your power supply's voltage is dropping, the software may put an alarm message on the screen warning the owner about it.

I don't know if the newer televisions have the sensors I'm talking about. If there are, the manufacturer would have the diagnostic equipment to analyze them. I suspect it would involve more than just software.

The description is not exact enough.

With LCD TVs and screens you have two basic fault areas, one with the electronics and one with bad pixels, which of those are you asking about?

With electronics, you need extra electronics to diagnose properly, most modern devices have a built in controller that posts fault codes when it sees a problem....if that was not built in from the design stage......then only the old fashioned way will work!!

With screens, there are special (expensive) machines to check each pixel.....or just write some simple color changing software and use your eyes!!
