There are many books with all details for such computations. More than that there are programmes on the net to help you compute very detail of a gear box. Due to the problem which are related it is better if you go to such a source and see by your self how different parameter interfere and influence the result. Use google to find the right source for you.

Comment to nick name; You could use a whole lot of help learning how to write in the english language. Also when someone ask for ideas or help I find it ideotic for someone like yourself that might be able to help, turn down a fellow engineer and attempt to write a comment that is not of the native english language. You know where to put this comment and I hope it almost fits.

Dear Sir Guest,

I read with great pleasure your comments about my poor English.

I appreciate when some body takes the an opportunity to look at all details of a comment. But you can very well understand that I would even more appreciate if you would have the kindness to make me clear where are my errors. I am every time ready to learn and I presume that you are a good teacher.

Pleeeease make the corrections and I promise you to take care of all your constructive remarks.

Would it be possible that you give me an example how I should have put it down?

May I ask a question: how many languages do you master?

Thanking you in advance for the tremendous help you will give me

very sincere yours

nick name,

Don't take it personal. Every group has someone like the Guest you replied to. I think they feel so bad about themselves that they try to make everyone else feel bad. Usually, they just windup making themselves look like a jerk.

I get a feeling that the member is a Under-graduate student of Mechanical Engg who has just been introduced to the concepts of Gear/Shaft/key designs. So all calcualtions will have to be done by him using nothing more thatn a Scintific calculator

Lay your hands on a Machine Design book to learn the procedure involved in designing the different gears and shaft and a Design Data Book to select the proper material and and the other necessary information tha you will need.

Looks like someone is trying to get his/her design assignment done here without taking any effort him/herself

Btw how on earth will you design a Gearbox if you are not told how much power it is to transmit

I totally agree with you. I am ready to help but not ready to do the work of some body else for free. there is a difference between helping a person which has troubles to solve a problem he is already involved in and give more than a hint to one who wants to have his work done by others.

Nice try but won't work on us. Do your own dirty work.
