Getting Machinery Out of My Back Yard

11/14/2018 3:28 PM

I wanted to know if I could post some pics and descriptions of some machinery I have in my back yard. The wife says it has to go.

Would like to see if anyone would be interested and which form would be best to post it, if allowed.

1) is a heavy duty industrial wire rope winch.

the other is (3) heavy duty 1200-1 gear reducers.

I have done that and it cost me a lot just for the listings. with only one hit on one piece.

These pieces of equipment are nothing like you see there everyday. Even in the industrial sections. This is what some call "New Old Stock" meaning never used but old in factory working condition.

I will post photos and full descriptions this week end.

You should be able to auction stuff on EBay for no cost? I’ve gotten rid of lots of junk (to me) this way, no negative cash flow...

Sounds like "weighing it in" is the solution.

I'm going to allow this to stay in the General Discussion forum -- it's not really commercial in the same way that Commercial Space posts are.

Reminder: per the CR4 Code of Conduct, please do not post real names or addresses on CR4. If anyone is interested in obtaining the equipment, use the private messaging system.

There are a number of places that broker used industrial machinery.

Example: http://fedequip.com/inventory/Cranes-Hoists/

Might be able to find one of these guys to outright buy it, intended for resale. I'll bet you only get 5 cents on the dollar or so if you go that route, but it gets the rusty iron out of your yard.

Doorman,

Yes, I have been listing it on various company web pages, and calling a lot of them, ever since the hammer came down. It's really good equipment, I hate to see it go to waste.

I'll post photos & specs this weekend.

Worst case I'll haul it all to the scrap yard all 5,600 lbs Avg. $0.10 lb.

Good day to all. As noted earlier, you could look to sell to an industrial equipment reseller. Aaron Equipment (630) 350-2200, Perry-Videx (609) 267-1600, and Machinery & Equipment Co. (415) 467-3400 are three that come immediately to mind. They may not provide the best $ as they have to inventory and hope someone wants the items at some point in the future but most likely one would be interested in taking them off your hands and helping improve the state of your marital bliss.

I don't know what your financial situation is, and the new tax laws are terribly unfair in this regard, unless you are a millionaire but, you might look in to donating the equipment to a NPO and writing it off as a loss.

Do the math first, selling it as scrap may be a better solution.

I'm curious to know how your wife says it should go. Maybe she can post a comment.
