Protection of Uphill Slope

02/19/2019 7:43 PM

Dear Sirs,

How an uphill slope of sandy soil protected? By retaining wall, or gabion box is also needed? (Otherwise, there is danger of landslide.)

Best Regards,

Hire a civil engineer. They will first perform a site survey and determine if your sandy soil just needs some beach grass planted, a cantilevered retaining wall with a 2 meter heal and toe might hold this back or if trying to hold back the wandering sand dunes of the Sahara is a waste of money.

It really depends on quite a large number of factors, and it is difficult to guess the scale and requirements of the application with so little information.

Can you provide much more information on the slope and what it is to be protected and used for along with what it needs to be protected against?

This is something you really need an engineer to figure out, on site evaluation of the local soil conditions and topography and associated risk factors as well as budget, all come into play....

There is quite a number single answers, and an additional number of combinations of answers that will work to varying degrees...

How about about providing a Site Plan, cross-section, etc., ...

This isn’t an Electrical Engineers’s domain.

Have the installation reviewed by a qualified local Civil Engineer and review this individual’s recommendations in pursuit of improvements.

you need to track the service institution names and find the alternates at where you are living and give a phonecall . . .

"...Uphill slope. ..."

Are you certain the slope is truly an uphill slope. Your frame of reference might not be the preferred frame of reference. It could be such a waste of time searching for solutions for protecting an uphill slope, only to find the slope was downhill the whole time.

With so little detail of the site, Uphill slope could very well imply the primary or sole direction of vehicle/people traffic in this case.
