3-Phase Motor

How can I connect a 3-phase motor to run on 220v, single phase?

Via an inverter that generates a three-phase supply from a 220V single phase supply.

It might be easier to just change the motor. As well as cost less.

You need some sort of Phase converter as mentioned. It may be possible to do this with another smaller 3 phase motor, but a proper 3 phase converter is definitely the best way. Here are some links on the topic that may help you.

Single phase to 3-phase inverters (or variable speed drives) really are not that expensive now days and are readily available. How big is the motor?

If you want to play with 3-phase motor you can do this . If this motor has star connection ,380 V you should shange connection in D and connect motor on 220 V with capacitor between free and one of used terminal .If you are serious you have to provide 3 phase converter . Good luck !!
