Can anybody direct me to a website that provides practical information/downloads on Electrical Wiring e.g of equipement or appliances?

It really would depend on the country you are in and their standards.

I could easily direct you to a UK based website but it wont be much use if you are based in Asia would it?

PLEASE it's better you contact any technical college in your country, i believe they have some good info partainig wiring and installation. you can get some info of great use or you can use the technical search engines, try ask.com.
