Displacement Settlements. Surface Water Management

Regarding the emergency sector.

Does anyone here have experience with surface water management in urban displacement settlements? (flooding in refugee camps in cities).

I am trying to gather information for research on the topic and would appreciate any input.

If you have the time I have put together a questionnaire that you can complete which gives some structure to the data gathering.

Alternatively, any general thoughts on the matter. Literature on the subject etc.

Sandbags, more sandbags, and still more sandbags. Clear out any fatbergs in the city sewers.

General thoughts: If I understand you correctly, you are exclusively interested in camps which are in cities. As such, I would expect the rate of flooding would be the same as other city occupants, that is it depends on the infrastructure already present in the city in question. If camps are on the outskirts of the city maybe that doesn't apply.

There is certainly some evidence that flooding has been a problem in refugee camps which are not in cities or connected to urban water infrastructure.

It depends on where the city is. Rainfall varies hugely around the globe.
