CBS also has a video of the collapse.

The bridge design looks very sparse and modern. I wonder if the designers have any ties to the Florida International University or the bridge designers of the former Morandi bridge that collapsed?

The bridge was reportedly ''ravaged by recent typhoon'' impacts. Interestingly, the single, full-span, arch did not initially fail. The roadway failed at the center of the span, drawing down the entire arch with it. The video suggests that the roadway failed, in bending, due to excessive loading of truck-weight and/or resonant frequency effects being matched by the truck's mass and velocity. Only one arch-haunch completely fractured at its' top in reaction to the roadway striking the water surface. I wonder if there were expansion sections at the abuttments, or just one at the center of the span? Weather and corrosion do not appear to have become contributing factors just yet. Co-occuring earth tremors have not yet been reported. Slight slippage of either abuttment was still possible, but relatively unlikely due to the relative 31-year newness of the bridge, leaving material failure and/or faulty roadway structure design as the most probable causes, so far...

Video doesn't work in Firefox.

Is there a more universally playable version?
