Ultrasonic rodent repellant

10/26/2007 11:08 PM

Is ultrasonic rodent repellant are really effective .If yes than why supplier says it takes couple of weeks to be effective. Intensity of ultrasonic waves should be experienced by rodents immediately.

I had a little plug in model. It seems the rodents like to dance around the thing untill they get tired of the same old music and then move on.

It's the same as the guy next door with the leaf blower. Nice sounds of autumn and all that. After a couple hours of droning and your ready to stick it up his "where the sun don't shine".

I want to tell YOU...Mr. Vermin that they absolutely DID work! We put 4 of those silly little "tickers" in a house that was infested with rats for years and it drove them out in one day! Never....saw a rat or mouse moving in or around the house since.

One manufacturer of them said they work for spiders too but that's bull----

I once built an electrocution mouse trap consisting of a block of wood covered with aluminum foil on top, and an insulator on top of that. The top of the insulator had a block of cheese with a thin wire stabbed in it that went to a neon sign transformer (10,000 volts).

The proud owner of this gizmo showed all his friends my invention and how he could light up an old flourescent bulb held in his hand when he touched the cheese. Unfortunately, he demonstrated it this one time and got too close to a grounded rack and the electricity jumped out of his elbow like lighning into the steel, scared the h--- out of everyone....that was the end of that mouse trap .

As for the rats, it's quite possible that a cat came around about the time you put down the ultrasonic units. A little cat urine will do wonders for reducing the rodent population!

As far a affecting rodents, about the best you can do is throw them inside an ultrasonic cleaner on high for about 15 minutes... The ones that live will probably go packing.

So what happened to your friend's elbow? Did it catch fire?

He wasn't hurt but it really scared him and his friends he was impressing...he laughs about it now though.

The fire zapped out of his arm about 3 inches to the metal!

To echo Vermin: they do not work. To be effective, most of them should be at least 30-40 dB louder and run for short periods at random intervals.

I've noticed most animals to get used to sound rather quickly where food and shelter is involved. If nothing happens after a few minutes, it's just another part of the environment...

Hey! Maybe it does work! I haven't seen a post by Kris yet!!!

Got one about 8 or 9 years ago, and just left it plugged in near the kitchen sink hoping that it would get rid of all kinds of pests.

Thankfully, the mice didn't take the hint...at least in the rest of the kitchen. Most of the time, if you have a mouse or two, you don't have cockroaches, because the mice eat them. Tried both pests, and overall would rather have mice.

Spent many years evaluating vermin of all sorts...sorting through which vermin to eradicate and which to keep. Guess which category you come under?

Hi vermin, Since this post started I have bought an ultrasonic vermin controller, and guess what? It does not work one bit, last night I got up to go to the toilet and I surprised two mice in the kitchen, they did not even run away until I tried to kick them. So my scientic test so far shows that it was a waste of my har eared money!!!!! Spencer.

Hi, Scapolie!

The position they were in when you tried to kick them may be an indication of why they were not inclined to run away.

Hi Mark. They were right next to the infernal so-called electronic rodent repeller. By the way it does not seem to stop vermin on this site either. Spencer.

Perhaps the rodent repellant was taken by them to be mood music. Hence the position you found them in before you tried to kick them.

You mean the barry late songwriter Barry White who was not barry white at all? You sense a music lyric in the vision of two mice getting it on?
