Hi, can you please explain the meaning of a pooling substation? Is it different from other substations?

Seems to be a made-up term....ask the person who made it up....

Perhaps a substation that receives multiple inputs from individual sources or subsidiary substations.

This substation will have line IN and line OUT. Normally this arrangement is done when this substation is located in generating station. For example, this substation is having 132kV bus with one incomer from generating power station. If there is no nearby grid substation to connect the generated power to grid, but only 132kV transmission line is going through that area from one substation to another substation, then that 132kV line will be connected to the 132kV bus of this generating power substation (line IN and OUT) arrangement. Through this, generated power will be connected to 132kV grid power.

Hope it helps!

Thanks,

Vijay
