Compatibility Between Lexan Polymer and Transformer Oil

07/07/2020 3:29 PM

Good evening,

I intend to build a 500 kilovolts voltage multiplier, however I have carried my 2 meters pyrex tube in Antananarivo, Africa, whereas I am in France.

For lack of money, I would choose to buy a tube made of lexan polymer, but I don't know wether it is compatible with transformer oil.It could swell and break.

Thank you for your advice.

What type of transformer oil?

What is the spacing of your components?

A friend built a Tesla Coil and used vegetable oil as the insulating oil.

He has had no problems with it.

Thank you for your replies.

The transformer oils I use to involve are ESSO 51 or UNIVOLT 84 or similar, used in power IGBTs transformers up to 160 kilovolts and 100 kilowatts.

Regards

Is there a phone number on the outside of the containers of <...ESSO 51 or UNIVOLT 84...>?

No offense, but how old are you where you think you can call "ESSO" and get someone on the phone? You say this all the time. No one ever answers the phone anymore.

"Exxon Mobile may I help you?"

"Yes I need a compatibility chart for transformer oil"

"I'll transfer you to Bob right away"
