Hi guys, I want to bridge a 7' span with tube to support the front edge of a built in computer table. I've found a company which does 20, 25, 30 mm square tube in 1.5mm wall thickness. The 25mm is also in 2mm wall thickness.
My gut feel is that 20mm is too small and that the 30 should be fine... they do 40 but I'd rather keep the size down (maximum knee room for wheelchair user).
Bear in mind it's fairly long and some one is going to sit on it eventually!
Is 30 @ 1.5 wall better than 25 @ 2mm wall?
What do you mech' eng' guys reckon?
(the top will probably be ply, about 20" front to back, supported along most of the back edge... a few cut outs for cabling.)
Cheers in advance
Del
