What Does the "SM" Next to the CR4 Logo Stand for?

11/05/2007 6:24 PM

Ok, it's taken me a looong time, but I've finally noticed the little SM after the CR4 at the top of the page (see blow-up pic for those (like me) with grubby specs).

Having spotted it, I got to wondering what it meant. I thought about it a good deal (gave it a full 15 seconds), then tried Wikipedia, where all was revealed.

I thought of a few other possible meanings before, but I'm keeping them to myself!

Anyone else got any good suggestions?

BTW I'm marking this before we start, 'cause it's got b*gger all to do with Engineering .

But why does it cast no shadow

Because it's an optical illusion. It's actually closer to the camera than the CR4 logo.

I confess that I fixated on Selective Mutism. I've been starting to do that with some of the threads here. Not all, mind you. Just a few.

By the way CSM, isn't that logo yours? CR4SM Engineer?

It stands for Service Mark. It's similar to a trademark, but instead of being for a product its given for a service. And here's what the wiki has to say.

BTW, "CR4" is now officially a registered trade mark, so the "sm" is gone.
