how do i strip litz wire to make a silver solder connection?

i tried a torch sand blast and sand paper with so so results the thing is I have 144 in each lead and i have a gazillion wires it seems

I know that there is a molting salt stripper but thats not very portable and i'm sure not going to hold it!!!!!!!!!!

by litz wire made from wire insulated with polyurethane wire enamel. All the wire makers make it. The polyurethane is made to decompose at solder temperature and act as a flux.

The way we did it in the 'good old days', was to light a little meths burner dip the end into meths and then the flame and when the wire ends start to glow quench it out in the meths...

Works perfectly especially with enamelled insulation and cotton covered insulation...

Modern stuff is probably self fluxing enamel insulated so it should dissolve during soldering if the temperature is high enough.

The idea with litz wire is that you don't need to strip it -- the insulation melts and gets out of the away a soldering temps.

144 in each lead? 144 strands?
