DG power factor

11/25/2007 4:24 AM

I tried to run the DG set with Automatic power factor static power factor corrective relay in on condition, but DG tripped with power reversal warning. I want to know specifically that is it possible to run the DG set with high power factor or not ? Secondly, it is very difficult to cut the power factor banks while DG running, how to come out of this difficulty ?? Please reply with explanation.

Hello Ritesh, you have not replied to my earlier answered questions.

Accordingly I repeat my later answers, right here:

Hello Ritesh,

It appears that you have entered your entire Homework assignments in these several almost simultaneous questions.

You could also research your subjects via Internet Search Engines.

The reason I say that, is that your questions are ones not well formulated, and look as if your teacher has given you several questions as a Homework assignment.

If you just Copy/Paste answers from here, you are never going to actually remember them, when you are going to need those answers most...in an examination, or later in a Professional situation.

If you do a bit of effort, and actually research the answers (remember to formulate the questions in a more complete way), you are likely to retain the information for life.

If this is not so, please advise here, formulate your questions so they can actually be answered, and I'm sure you should be helped......

I suggest you kindly go through all the postings, many answers you will find.

It is normally not recommended to connect the capacitors to DG set.

I do not know why at all you are connecting the capacitors to DG set.

iT IS NOT NECESSARY TO RUN DG SET WITH HIGH PF BECAUSE FOR DG SET YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY ANY BILL to utility company. In case of utility power supply there is a requirement of minimum 0.9 pf otherwise fine is levied by electricity supplier hence pf bank is installed to improve pf.

To cut pf bank while dg is running have a interlock connection between utility incoming breaker and Incoming breaker of pf bank through NO+NC point of contactors so that when incoming breaker supply is cut off the pf bank breaker will cut off.
