Are we talking about the same thing?

The Canola I know is plant based and is even recommended for use by persons showing allergic reactions. I have a wife, 2 children and 2 grand children with wild allergies. The Canola seems to work better.

Maybe a bit of mechanical oil is good for the body.

PS My wife does not trust these pans with teflon coatings and she uses canola to fry eggs in them.

If you visit the page I referred then you will find that the oil is extracted from a plant

belonging to mustard family .This plant was developed through genetic engineering.

There are two reasons for its toxicity .

1. erucic acid

2. long chain fatty acid of 22 carbon atoms

It place in Food is disputed .Who will judge ?

My internet facilities at work is somewhat overloaded with access to unknown sites prohibited (CR4 is known). I will have to wait for tonight to open your link.

A quick glance at wiki - revealed a possible email hoax.

Our food and health authorities operate independent from other countries and only they can approve the use. We are currently improving legislation.

The oil and margarine products on the shelves in the shops are more expensive than for example maize based products. Possibly because it is refined twice.

Nothing on the label (table of contents -there by law) suggest any harmful effect.

There were however a story in the news lately of how honey bees are effected by the insecticide sprayed on the canola. (Almost like a mad bee disease.)

I will investigate. thanks for the clue.

It's an internet hoax. There is nothing wrong with canola oil.

Thanks Chris, I almost ordered my wooden suite.

There was this story a while back about the quarrel between the bee owners and the Canola growers because of pesticide use. (Western Cape SA)

Have you heard any thing.

I'm not familar with that episode. I know honeybees are very attracted to rapeseed and produce a peppery honey from it.

Canola oil comes from the rapeseed is a plant oil. It is a major component of vegetable oil. As with all oils I am sure it has found industrial purposes. Vegetable oils like Canola are not cheap the cost to extract them is costly.
