Dilbert?!

11/21/2022 1:37 AM

For years I have gotten a daily dose of the Dilbert comic strip.

Now I have not seen it and dilbert.com is unavailable!?

Did I miss something???????

He got cancelled by the lefty's....

"Why did Dilbert comic get Cancelled?

Instead of being accused of racism, he was accused of transphobia. Offended parties interpreted his comic as ridiculing the notion of self-identification."Sep 30, 2022

The statistics seem to suggest that this is some form of youth rebellion against the status quo...in my day it was long hair, go figure...haha

I think at some point everybody naturally becomes non-binary...and just identify as old....

I had a boss, that looked like Dilbert’s boss,… he also operated very similar…

I also went looking for my daily Dilbert and felt lost when I couldn't find it. After a lot of searching I did find current Dilbert's at https://www.arcamax.com/thefunnies/dilbert/. Today's is;

and yesterday's

When I was a kid my parents, schools and community reinforced in children that we should be able to do what we want, say what we want and become what we want with as much freedom as possible as long as we don't prevent someone else from doing what they want, saying what they want and becoming what they want. We were never taught that America was "perfect" or "done".

We are not allowed to have political discussions on CR4 and with my previous paragraph the moderators have their finger twitching over the DELETE key. I'll just suggest that the character's in Scott Adam's Dilbert cartoon are making suggestions about current events that are causing some very powerful people to want him to be cancelled.

It is interesting to see how some people react when someone points out the obvious.

George Carlin was very good at that. He too would be canceled in this day and age. Dave Chappelle seems to be doing a good job at poking at the sacred cows.

It is high time the silent majority takes back the podium.

That certainly tells us something about how the media/newspapers feel about the First Amendment. Rather ironic.

Clearly the tail is wagging the dog at this point...Maybe he can sue at this point, and wag back a little...Isn't the reason for art to generate emotional reaction...

If only people would cancel their newspaper subscriptions and tell the newspaper why they did. That's the only message they will hear.

Unfortunately it seems the most vocal are the few...as seems to be the norm ...

"Overall, 58 percent of subscribers describe themselves as primarily print-oriented, and 28 percent say they are primarily digital. Among just newspaper subscribers, even more (75 percent) describe themselves as print-oriented. But these numbers look very different when we break people down by demographic groups.

Among those who pay, Hispanics are particularly likely to use primarily a digital version (45 percent) compared with 34 percent of African Americans and 23 percent of whites.

And the age differences between print and digital payers are striking. Older adults are much more likely to pay for print over digital.

Adults age 65 and older who pay for news are five times more likely to buy print than digital (72 percent vs. 14 percent).

By contrast, younger adults age 18 to 34 are equally likely to pay for print or digital (42 percent in both camps).

In other words, any forward looking subscription strategy has to lean more digital, even if the current subscriber base is in print.

But that is only the beginning of why digital approaches make sense even in the short term."

https://www.americanpressinstitute.org/publications/reports/survey-research/print-vs-digital/

..."The total estimated advertising revenue for the newspaper industry in 2020 was $9.6 billion, based on the Center’s analysis of financial statements for publicly traded newspaper companies. This is down 25% from 2019. Total estimated circulation revenue was $11.1 billion, compared with $11.0 billion in 2019. This is the first year in our data that circulation revenue has been higher than advertising revenue."...

Advertising revenue has been dropping like a rock for the last 16 years and is projected to continue...

This might not be an anti Dilbert issue. There seem to be several comic strips that are down. They are all from the GoComics service. There seems to be almost nothing on the web about this. I did find one site suggesting that a ransomware attack was a possible event that could take sites down for days and not get public reporting. That site wasn't reporting the attack, just suggesting it.

After thinking all day that Dilbert had been CANCELLED it is really weird sitting here hoping it was a ransomware attack. This isn't a very healthy political climate we are in now.

Happily getting Dilbert back!

I am offended at people who get offended too often!!!
