Where to connect the PE core?

12/27/2022 6:29 AM

Our panel is supplied by a Solidly earthed transformer. The question is where to connect the PE core at the panel side for all the cables as the power system is TN-S and all incoming and outgoing cables are 5 core (3Ph + N + PE). As there are no terminals designated for the PE core of any of the cables, the panel instead has an earth bar that spans its whole length.

The Protective Earth for any power system is earthed, no matter the transformer connection or line to neutral or line to line loads. The bar is where the PE connections are made. The bar is designed to provide a convenient place that can accommodate just about any connector & bolt you may have, drill and tap or through bolt your terminal lug, and you have a nice low impedance link to work with, for any or all conductors. The conductors are all sized to conduct the available ground fault current to the power system neutral, to assure prompt tripping of the protective devices, to prevent or reduce the probability of a fire.

There is no need to segregate the PEs, as is required for neutrals for line to neutral loads. One big bar works fine.
