This is a feature that many smartphones have pre-installed, would that work for you?

A skilled typist from the "60's could do it,but I don't know of any of recent vintage.

They could type as fast as you could speak.

I don't want to simply record it,I want it to convert voice to text.

Dictation software is one of the original programs (apps) computers were tasked to do. One web editorial does a comparison of "preferred" products. The latest version of one of the earliest programs is Dragon. The expense of Dragon implies to me this is a "stand alone" product but that is just a guess.

I don't use any of those products.

I have checked out Dragon,their privacy policy is lacking in real privacy,plus they require a subscription.

They can get your voice print,context of your article, and so much more personal data.

I do not want that.

There must be a demand for this type of program,or am I the only one out of 8Billion+ humans?

This sort of sounds like Enhanced Dictation for MS Word on a Mac.

A guy I worked with used it, no personal experience to share about this.

All well and good that it works offline, but do your documents really STAY offline? Dunno. Maybe. Depends. In all likelyhood, probably not.

The security specialist in me will offer the same advice I offered clients for a fee: If you don’t want the stuff in your computer to ever see the outside of this office, DO NOT connect the machine to the internet. EVER. PERIOD. NEVER. If truly sensitive, remove/disable USB ports, drives of any description.

I have a spare computer with a new hard drive,and win 10 installed.Never been connected to the Net.No WiFi,no NIC.

A basic stripped down pc.

I intend to use this for my projects.The hard drive will be erased with multiple passes when multiple copies of the project have printed.

Backup to USB.

Something that surprised many of my new-to-commercial-industrial-espionage clients was... security (real live, honest to goodness security) isn’t free. Not even inexpensive. In fact, a small percentage is priced at the WOWZA level, most is priced between ‘You gotta be kidding me’ and ridiculously expensive.

With what I am hearing you describe as a desired end result, I am doubting that an OS that pretty much needs the ‘net to function running in a ‘spare computer’ is going to be able to fulfill you desired end result as stated.

some rigorous adherence to a reasoned security protocol would provide adequate asset protection for most users, as long as you remember: ONE SLIP of security protocol and you are compromised. You will never know to what extent, and you will probably never even know of this compromise. Thus, a belief exists that what you are doing is working and you don’t review/update your protocol, you slip up again... rinse and repeat.

On one hand, your data being mined directly from your computer is (for most people) simply paranoia.

That’s normally can be done on a printer, it’ll only be on hard copies though, if I recall, some software programs can do it I. The file itself, wher digital files, there is a watermark in the background, MSWord and MSPublisher.

Disclosure here: this subject isn’t really my wheelhouse. I integrated my physical facility access control with many different sorts of computer systems, and so I have exposure to and a rudimentary grasp of some unusual high security stuff. As computer operating systems evolve at a staggering pace, anything I give you here is almost certainly past the stale date, but the general concepts should be applicable.

IIRC, the Security Focused OS Trusted Solaris with a specific version of MS Word had an addressable document watermark that could not be amended or removed from the source electronic document.

A low security method of an invisible watermark is giving the watermark the print color 0,0,0 (whatever defines no color). This will work... sort of... maybe.

A friend of mine used Dragon Natually Speaking and was very happy with it. Maybe 10 years ago, PC based.

Do you think that’s really true? I could publish source code for a product and gather data, who is going to go through and find leaks? Maybe open source is better regulated, like published by Mozilla? Wouldn’t some sort of engineered quality assessment be built in?
