Ohmite has stopped manufacturing these high Meg Glass Encapsulated Resistances. I used to buy from them.

I want to collect surplus from friends.

<...collect surplus from friends...>

How does that coincide with <...can pay $100 total...>?

Those are some very expensive resistors you have specified. They are used in very esoteric designs. I doubt anyone has some to spare, let alone one hundred pieces sitting in stock. Newark will order a similar Ohmite resistor that goes for about $24 US for each piece but these have to be fabricated by Ohmite. You are not going to find these glass-encapsulated resistors from anyone at $1 each.

Hi, I do have HV resistances. However, I need low voltage glass encapsulated resistances of Victoreen Type resistances.

I used to make parts like that. A batch of 100 might take 3 days to make or more at 1% tolerances.

Do you need hermetically sealed, high voltage, metal oxide resistors (non inductive), at 1% tolerance or could you make your own wire wound resistors using fine grade nichrome wire wound on ceramic rods?

Or make them with graphite powder and lucite painted on ceramic? Those can be adjusted to tolerance with sanding and filing and then sealed with lacquer.

Or use a nylon coupler with brass screws on either end filled with graphite powder and adjusted by compressing the powder inside with the screws.

If you have an accurate megaohm meter you can make pretty good resisors yourself.

Or stack some common 1/4W resistors in a glass tube and seal with glue or epoxy. That'll be cheap, easy and long enough for the high voltages across it. You can up the voltage tolerance by filling the tube with epoxy and out-gassing it in a vacuum chamber before the resin sets up.

If you can work glass and have a vacuum pump, you can seal a common metal oxide resistor in glass and re-create the ohmite design. Just measure them out and find the ones that meet the spec and then seal them up in the glass yourself.

I don't think those handmade resistor suggestions will be as thermally stable as the specified resistors. That is why those resistors are so expensive. Then again we don't know if that temperature stability is really needed.

CR4 doesn't sell anything.

Found them, though!

The budget is far too low.

Have you tried eBay? Alibaba? Mouser? Farnell? RS Components?

Many years ago (1970's), I worked for Combustion Engineering Inc. and they used 62.5 ohm precision resistors in their 4-20m milliamp systems to allow more instruments to be connected simultaneously, and to allow for long distance(oil rigs) loops. The precision on these was, I believe,.001 %.

Incredible accuracy, but not high voltage rated.

I do not know the manufacturer of these resistors, and may have been a specialty item custom made for them.

IF the source could be found, then series an appropriate number of these, sealed in epoxy could provide some help in your situation.

You do not specify temperature or other conditions for your resistors.

I have searched on the net for these resistors in vain, perhaps SE could help out on this, he is the Guru of searches, and he leaves no stone unturned.
