Earth Rods and Inspection Pits

01/15/2024 2:47 AM

Hello

I would like to know if there is a standard that specifies the number of inspection pits for earth rods or always the number of inspection pits should equal the number of earth rods

Thanks in advance

The Earth pit is a structure built over the grounding rod for inspection and testing...You need one earth pit for each grounding rod...you can have an interconnected earthing system where several grounds and neutrals are connected, each needs an inspection pit...

Each jurisdiction will have its applicable standard: British Standard 7671, Indian Standard 3043, etc.

Here are some documents that illustrate.

The <...number of inspection pits...> cannot exceed <...the number of earth rods...>.
