Ex-Rated Distribution Panel

	Are there any drawbacks to using an Ex-rated panel in an application where a standard indoor industrial panel would be adequate? I understand that cost and weight would increase, however since we source it from one vendor and he cannot do normal industrial panel.

	Explosion rated electrical panels are prohibitively expensive, I don't know anybody in business that would waste that kind of money, and If I saw this happening I would assume somebody is getting a kickback of some kind....I don't see any other drawbacks besides that...but that's a big one.... __________________ All living things seek to control their own destiny....this is the purpose of life

	Who, in their right minds, would put an <...Ex-rated panel...> in the hazardous area when a safe area installation would be the obvious choice (rhetorical question - NNTR)? 	What is the Explosive rating for the application? Follow the appropriate rules for the rating. By asking this question, you are revealing that you are not qualified to perform the work. Get a qualified electrical contractor to do the job. You can install an EX rated panel in a non-hazardous location, but the opposite is not true.
