I'll start the conversation with the basics. I'm sure more people will join in shortly. Run and isolated ground and neutral back to the distribution panel, try not to share neutrals. This will help greatly.

Good Luck,

James

Your power quality will start going down as soon as you start using electronics loads; from cell phone charger, PC ...to...VFD, SCR, etc. So many electronics you will have so many harmonics; as cross Ithd 4% you start facing problems..happy harmonics....

There are different ways to go about this you can use a tvss filter for the spikes and isolate the equipment that causes the harmonics with a line reactor or drive isolation transformer. One good solution is you have a load malfunctioning because of spikes or harmonics is an on-line ups. They typiccally can tolerate a wide variance in the input sinewave before going to battery and then generate a output sinewave that is independant of the input and have a tvss filter built in. Oneac builds high quality ups equipment at www.oneac.com

Have a look at Clean Volt surge arrestor. TVSS do not react quickly enough nor to they "cap" spike at a useful level ie +/- 10 % of rated. Look at www.mimcv.com
