Kempe's Engineers' Year Book 1988 Chapter C4 gives 54 pages of information on steels.

Your question is very general. and the answers are something in many ways. manufactured Metals has its tensile strength classification according to standard. However, to give an answer will not be in that sort of question.

My clarifications:

1-what is your purpose in looking this high tensile strength steel materials?

2-Are you trying to specify a certain materials with high tensile strength? if so, in what application.

Some info's why tensile strength of metals are informant:

say in a steel pipe specs:

1- API 5L Gr. B Tensile strength is less than 50,000 ksi

2- API 5L Gr. X60 Tensile strength is more than 50,000 ksi

in a steel plate specs:

A36 steel plate Tensile strength is quite bet lower (this is a commercial steel plate use in structural beams.

A516 Gr.60 steel plate Tensile strength is higher than A36 steel plate.

Tool Steel materials has also higher tensile strength compare to other industrial/commercial steel

Tensile strength of steel materials varies according to its metal composition when define according to standards.

Jojie

i know steel having higher tensile strength is known as high tenile steel but what is the exact value(tensile strength is psi) above which we can say now it is high tensile is there any spacific limit???

any way thx a lot for giving such a huge info.

Noramally yield strength above 300 MPa (300 N/mm2) are considered as high tensiel range .

Strength above 50KSI are also high tensuiel steel grades, in normal carbon steels fro structural or forming, drawing end applications .

1. EN 10025 specification specifies all structural quality steels S235 & S275 - Low and medium tensile ,

S355 , etc are high tensiel .

2. ASTM A572 Gr 50 , Gr 55 , Gr 60 are high tensiel structuiral ,

ASTM A607 , A709 are some other high tensiel specifications.

3. Similarly other Interanational spec. gives such high tensiel steel grades .

YOur end application and properties required (Yield strength range, Elongation, etc) decides the specification .

Micro-alloyed ( Nb, Ti, V- microalloyed ) , HSLA - high strength low alloy steels are special categories of such steels and you can get google search fro this category .

I have one more question what is the grade of high tensile strength. And how it is determined. Also what a trainee mechanical engineer can get in an oil and gas exploration firm in INDIA. Please Do reply soon. Thank you all.

Googling focus energy questions is not a good thing.
