Why Not Just Call 911?

04/25/2005 12:50 PM

Cellphone stun guns are in the news on Engadget. So I did a search on my own and turned up this phone. For just $44.95, you can arm yourself with a device that only looks like a cellphone. As the advertisement clearly states, "It does not function as a cell phone, but that's ok because you won't need to call for help." So why not just buy a stun gun? The idea of using a cellphone for self-defense is quite ironic in light of some recent remarks by Verizon's CEO, who thinks it's unreasonable to expect your cellphone to work at home. "Can you hear me now?", asked the homeowner of the burglar.

A combo? you know full well that somewhere out there a little old age pensioner (or worse someone's child) will, one day accidentally shock the tar out of themselves and file a lawsuit against the manufacture for thier own stupidity, heck I am tempted to drop the 45 bucks and shock myself and then sue the company, that made it and the people that sold it to me. :)
