Artificial black hole? Sure, Why Not!

04/26/2005 6:00 AM

From Scientific American . . . All sci-fi references aside (e.g., Romulan, artificial singularity engines; doomsday weapons; alternate universe portals), the scariest thing I find about this story are the urban legends of John Titor, the time traveler who claimed that his device used an artifical black hole. You could argue that CERN was working on this 5 or 6 years ago, or that it could be happenstance; anyway, kiddies, pretty neat stuff.

Hi,

I hope that mankind doesn'y try to create a dense matter object such as a "black-hole", as per a recent sci-fi film or short-movie i saw it could pull us all in!!

Scary stuff!!

Paul McGann as "The DOCTOR" in Dr.Who apparently had a singularity ( black-hole ) at the heart of the Tardis.

Disney movie "The Black Hole" was dire.

Regards,

Dr M.
