Trouble Reading Forum Posts

Why can't the text entry and edit window not be large like the "comment preview" window. Life would be so much easier for us older members whose eyesight is not as sharp as a twenty year old's?

While I keep CTRL key pressed, I move the scroll wheel on my mouse, enlarging or diminishing the text size. Works with CTRL and + or - keys, too. On my screen, the edit window is about seven inch wide with some seven horizontal character lines, while the comment preview window is 8 inch wide.

Thanks for the tip. That helps somewhat! I am used to writing on a full page as in a word processor and find this small window rather irksome. Looks to be only 65 characters wide by 10 lines.

I haven't seen such a clunky screen display size since I dumped my PET computer in favor of an APPLE IIe Even a CCA display was better than this. Then when you go to preview the message yo uhave to resize the window yet again. What a PITA!

You could type replies in word or similar then cut and paste the lot into the editor. I'm pretty sure that works.

Yes, writing in your favorite word processor is probably the best way to have the most comfortable writing experience. Most of the formatting will transfer over just fine. (Tested with MS Word only, but other work processors/editors should work to a degree as well.)

Works fine in the Open Office formating too.

Update : I just did this with an old version of M/S Word and it worked fine. Happy posting elnav ! You can use the Ctrl + scroll trick to view stuff bigger, then post replies via the Word mechanism I mentioned.

Thanks to all the suggestions. Will try the cut and paste from a word processor. The CTRL + scroll is the most useful since now I can read the original posts much better. Other forums also give me the same problem.
