Stiffness of a circular section in torsion is: Ct= GxJp/L Jp= ∏/32*(de^4-di^4)=9.3429E4 mm^1 ; G= 7.7e4 N/mm^2

Ct= 7.1941 E9 Nmm/rad =1.2556 E8 Nmm/°

φ = T/Ct*L= 6E5*3E3/1.2556E8= 14.336°

The torsion induced stress is τ = 105.96 N/mm^2 It is possible to compute the angle as well from the maximal stress it comes to same value.

Can you show where you plugged the before mentioned data and a simplification of the equation?

Re: Angle of Twist Calculation?

angle of twist= TL/JG

J=3.1416(do^4-di^4)/32 ,^=EXP

J=3.1416(33^4-22^4)/32

=3.1416(1185921-234256) mm^4 / 32

=93429.7113 mm^4 or 0.00000009342 m^4

angle of twist=(600 N.m)(3m) / (0.00000009342 m^4)(77GPa)

where:77GPa=77 000 000 000 Pa(N/m^2)

angle of twist=1800 N.m^2 / (0.00000009342 m^4)(77 000 000 000 N/m^2)

angle of twist=1800/7193.34 =0.250231 rad x 180 degrees/phi(3.1416)

angle of twist= 14.3371

thanks!!!

Thank You very much! Now I see...

How the heck did I come-up with 2.451; I tried converting the rads to degrees and came up with 400000 or something along that line!

It seemed a ridiculous # so I submitted the lesser of the two...Hoping does not cut-it? I guess I must Hit The Books!

Sir I would suggest you do not consult any more this group.

I consider your reaction as impolite and I am sorry I send you the calculations. Your way is not a correct way to react.

If you will ever ask again I shall never answer your questions and i would suggest to all to boycott you as well. Insulting people is not a civilised way to behave.

I was myself agressed verbally within this group but I did not react this rough way.

If you do not like comments you do not ask questions.

A French philosopher said to one a person he strongly disagreed :

"I do not accept your words but I shall fight anybody who will not let you say what you think"

Your reaction is the one of a non democratic person who does not like freedom.

By the way many times students asked questions and I answered although I knew they needed the answer for their work. Some people do not like to do it thus the comment.

I dare make this comment since I was the first to answer your question with a correct angle result.

Christopher, Christopher, Christopher. You have indeed stepped in it here. I encourage you to control yourself. Believe me I know it can be quite difficult.

It's like my Grandpa used to say "Boy, you can think as much as you want. But that talkin' part? That talkin' part needs regulatin' "

peace Bro,its not impolite ,you want everybody to comment, so thats the way i comment to someone's unsound comment.

anyway im not personalizing anybody,its only a comment as what you've said......

there's no need to apologize,but i then say sorry for the comment if you were offended,but then you guys said it is only a comment ,so it is only a comment.
