12/26/2007 6:03 AM

I would like to invite suggestions for storage long 3.5 meter x 1.2 meter dia. textile rolls weighing 2 tonnes to be stored in ware house of 30 meter wide and 70 meter long with 6.5 meter truss bottom. Please suggest most ideal arrangement with handling and storage system.

Will you only be handling whole rolls in and out or will you need to dispense cut lengths from the rolls while they are in the system? Can the material support itself without damage (lain down or stood on end), or must it be handled by the core only and kept horizontal?

Check out the information here.

Thanks for your response.I would clarify points raised by you as under:- 1.Whole roll will be handled. It has a protuding rod at center for lifting purpose. 2.Material can support itself. Rolls can be stacked one above other. 3.Yes it should be handled and stored horizontaly. Regards, Suresh Sharma.

The people here have some really nice equipment I've used before. Are you looking for project engineering on this or just trying to get some ideas? I do consulting on these types of projects if you want some professional help. I can provide service ranging from simply helping define your project scope and generating equipment specifications to getting a fully custom turn-key system installed and validated for you to take over. Otherwise, I will try to answer any questions you have.

Do you need to go first in first out or first in last out or do you need to extract them randomly?

My reply to CSM Engineer- This project is at initial stage only. You can at present only answer my questions. I will approach you latter on for detailed engineering. My reply to Mr.Hendrick- There is no need to observe FIFO any roll can be picked up. Regards to Both Of You. Suresh Sharma

I would suggest you may want to speak with equipment handlers that supply to steel mills utilizing batch annealing. They design this type of equipment including the appropriate cranes.
