Glass Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene Pellets

01/22/2008 7:30 AM

I am modifying an extruder to produce thermoplastic reinforced pellets for my research work. It will save me time if I buy the pellets. Does anyone know a company that sells them

Dear colleague,

Perrite, the engineering thermoplasticsarm of Vita compounding, based in Warrington UK,has extendedits extensive range of glass-coupled polypropylene with an ultra-high impactglass-filledv compound, Percom MCG20T.

These materials are provided as bespoke service.

I hope this has been of help to you.

contact www.ticona.com

they sell pellets with glass that can be mixed and the % glass reduced

Engel and Krauss- maffei also make injection molding machines with an extruder on top that bring in glass rovings and compounds the glass/ polymer in process

this makes longer fibers and typically 10 to 20% better properties

best of luck

Suggest you start here

http://www.ides.com/prospector/default.asp

to look at a number of compounds available, degree of fill, properties etc. Then have some conversations with extrusion screw and barrel folks about hardened components - the glass will take it's toll over time -

good luck, Jim
