Before answering your query, I think you should know fundamentals of AC circuits.

Generally there are three types of loads namely capacitive,Inductive, and Resistive.

In an AC circuit the current flowing through pure resistive load will be in phase with voltage.this means that the current vector and voltage vector will be in line and angle between two vectors will be 0.

In the case of pure inductive load the current vector will be 90 deg lagging.

For the pure capacitive load the current vector will be leading by 90 deg.

However in practice the loads will not be pure resistive or pure inductive or pure capacitive, therefore depending on the load the current will be lagging or leading with an angle .

COS of this angle is called powerfactor.

Therefore ,in a system depending on the type of load the magnitude and phase angle of the current vector will vary.

This is the explanation for different cos angle.
