eNOSE or IMS or both - Technology Challenge for Future

02/02/2008 10:58 AM

Hello Friends

I have decided to launch two years research program to develop two technology in parallel and compare the benefits and make use of these in suitable applications.

eNOSE or IMS or both - Technology Challenge for Future is now our highly committed program and perhaps may also get node from Government to get financial support to about US$250,000 which I consider reasonable.

I will like few highly motivated technology traders to come forward and make 10% contribution if they wished to market the technology in their country. In return I will give them one device of double commercial value and right to sell in their area on similar terms for long term business plan.

It is not happening immediately and research will bring in new type of highly efficient devices for ppb level chemical sensing. It is not for people who are not strong at business and are financially weak. It is for the people with guts and zeal for becoming part of the highest grade technology business.

As this development to be supported by the Government of India, it will be clearly monitored and documented. I have already done preliminary work for the last one year and have tested and built prototypes. Now is the time to move on to a professional design.

Do you have a question? Put it here now. Any one who have no business plans or money please do not make any comment here. It is research plan for a purpose.

Shyam IIRC Oak Ridge National Laboratory developed an electronic nose of some sort to identify vapors or gases. Search ORNL and look for Technology Transfer. SS

Dear Stirling Stan

Your advice sure is good one. I am aware of the ORNL research and technology.

This field is still new and growing and worth to develop independent ideas and make suitable changes. Cost of technology transfer is usually very high and also comes with limited scope of design and application. I can easily develop my own technology in a fraction of amount and suitable for my need.

As project is to be supported by the Government, it is wise to take to a development route for two years from the background I already have.

You should get some information from the Tech. Transfer folks to give you some idea as to what has been done. Check with them for whatever applicable technical informatios it available a no or minimal cost.

Dear Stirling Stan

I more or less know the technology and also know how to build each and every part of it. I have already built and sold them too. It still remains a Pandora's Box and each time you try to modify it to see if you have gained or lost something and you sure do get surprises.

There is not yet of any type IMS that is final or best design. There are more than few hundred groups all over the world and each one would have tried dozen types and still they all keep trying new one. It is like a chess game you play differently each time.

Technology is so simple that it looks like a rat hole and ions moving like rats in rat race and their speed varies depending on their mass. Ability to resolve molecules of one type from another and when they are still under going chemical reaction within the instrument is very tricky and very interesting one as well. You have to figure out yourself with the knowledge of Chemistry and Physics working within the experimental time. No one tells any one how to do research, and it happens to be that way for this product as it is more of research than being an instrument.
