Designing a Venturi

02/05/2008 6:16 AM

I am looking for a way to design and fabricate a venturi unit to use for presurizing a liquid dispensing syetem. I have in the past fabricated Positive Pressure air vacuums, which have a small spool inside an outer pressurized casing.. I would like to have the air do all the work to blow thru and atomize if you will, the liquid that is being pulled through a tube from a larger container. The air pressure would be exiting several sets of precision air blasts, at which point I would like the liquid to exit as well. I have looked for drawings online and have only found the Wikipedia drawing explaining Burnelli's Law. The fabrication is no problem at all, I would just like to find a nice set of prints, it makes it a little easier than just hogging one out of a peice of round stock..Thx alot and thx for letting me in the site,, I hope to use this site for alot of questions and theories I have..Dean

This is a link to a nice interactive demonstration that you should be able to use as the basis of a design.

Sort-of-like an airbrush, for example?

Yes sorta like that. I will be spraying a concentrated cleaner on a rotating brush. I don't want the cleaner to just drip or run out, thus not covering the surface of the unit. I have installed atomizing air nozzles so the cleaner will come out in a spray form..

Or something like this guy...? Not sure what kind of throughput you're after, but perhaps you could scale it up...

There have been quite a few venturi threads recently... search the site for venturi.

If it were my money being spent, I would use the available air to operate a diaphram pump and pump the liquid cleaner to a "Tee-Jet" spray nozzle.
