Are you looking to make them yourselves or buy them?

The last time I looked, many mfr's have over the counter prefab EIA 19" rack mounting enclosures at those height industry standards and where the dimensions are specified in their catalogs. Depths can be variable, depending upon the application. With a little research, you should be able to find the info that you are looking for, to mfr. yourself or to buy.

Still don't where to go? Start with vendor online catalogs such as Allied or Newark.

Hope this gets you going . . .

Have a look at SCHROFF.US, they have extremely good documentations and loadable mech. drawings.

Dave

I did a search for "19 inch relay racks" on line and got a whole bunch of hits. Some from manufacturers, but even Wikipedia has a very nice article on the subject. I was amazed!!

I learned:

1u = 1.75" panel height

2u = 3.5" panel height

3u = 5.25" panel height

etcetera

They also recommended cutting the panels 1/16" less than the above numbers to eliminate binding between panels.

I highly recommend that you do a similar search in that there is a wealth of information and it is quite educational.

Bill

Check out http://www.protocase.com/services/rackmount-enclosure.php and see if it helps you out. They have a great reputation, and they make it easier with access to cad docs, etc.

Try http://www.brenclosures.com.au/19-inch-rack.htm, I think that will have everything you need.

You should note though that there are blanking panels and blanking panels. Putting something on there will help a lot, but if you really want to do the job properly, you will need to seal the gaps so that air from your hot isle cannot back back into your cold isle. You will also have to look at the space between the top of the rack and the sealing, and your cable entries into the rack (brushes work best for these).

Hope this helps.

The RS Components catalogue is an invaluable source of information. Many rainy days may be spent profitably by wandering through it!
