Actually, it's the file extension for a Powerpoint presentation such as "VFD_Tutorial.ppt"

In chemistry, PPT is an abbreviation for 'precipitate', a settleable solid that is formed as a result of a chemical reaction in a fluid.

How very inconsiderate it is to discharge undefined acronyms into cyberspace....

Ah, Visiting Forces Detachment - Power Projection into the Tropics

A U.S. military detachment is presently here in the Philippines conducting joint exercises with our military.

I just made that up, but it sounds very appropriate for the time.
