For the best advice have to specify US or Imperial Gal and the hight and delivery pipe size and length.

Your best bet would be to visit a hardware shop. A swimming pool pump or smaller may do the job.

For only abstracting surface water only you may have to make a floating weir (to prevent the pump from running dry with changing water level).

Hello Neil,

Welcome to the forum.

We wish that you will contribute and learn from this forum.

Before we proceed to your question, here are few general tips to get the maximum out of this forum.

a) Please make your question as detailed as possible, more details you give the better answer you will get.

b) Avoid writing in CAPS as that is considered as shouting in this forum.

c) If any suggestion given by the member actually satisfies you, or does not solve your problem, keep that posted.

d) The members of this forum try their best to solve the problems and do have a very good command on the subject.

e) You will be surprised to see the amount of info, archives hold here..so do a search on here or at Mr Google, and in case you don't get anything you are welcome to post your query.

f) Do not use rude remarks and country/religion/ethnic background/poiltical innuendos, in your comments.

Post this at Meachanical Engg section too,..guys there will love to answer this one...

Here one factor ( Head) is to be known....how many meters do you have to send the water.

Your flow is 7.5 m3/hr (assuming 2000 USgph) and if you have to send it say 50 meters then you will require a 1.5 hp centrifugal pump.

Now as your head (50 m) comes down the hp will reduce.

Cheers.

That equates to just over 2 ltrs/sec. What do you consider to be low wattage?
