Blog Roundup

"Professional reporters are good at putting things in context, but they don't have the depth of knowledge in specific areas that the people they're covering (and often their readers) do. The weblog format provides the structure for people to write about their daily lives--and journalists could look to this as a source of expert knowledge." - Paul Bausch

This week, CR4's Amichelin reports from the ASEE Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, where the hot topic is "Advancing Scholarship in Engineering Education". Amichelen, an engineer and professor, is attending all three days of this event and has already submitted his first report.

Last week, CR4's MillMatt identified market segments where technical opportunities abound. Today, MillMatt targets North Korea, where engineers and technicians are readying a rocket that may contain a nuclear warhead.

In a three-part series, CR4's Roger Pink considers the science of global warming, providing you with valuable source materials that can help you draw your own conclusions.

On a lighter note, CR4's Stilljester wonders what's better – 12 ounces or 2 pints. Think you know the answer? What happened to understanding units?

Do you have a journal on CR4?

Global Warming?

06/22/2006 9:19 AM

Roger, If you integrate all the data and manage to come up with a unified theory of the Earth, you're bound to win at least a Nobel Prize, and I'm not being facetious. Makes you wonder if any others have compiled even a portion of all such data and cranked out any thermodynamic equations? You (and others) may enjoy this tongue-in-cheek interview by Mike Adams at Town Hall , some of which is about Global Warming -- er, Global Cooling, that is.

To be clear, I'm not trying to make any sort of political statement. I'm just trying to determine if:

1. Is Global Warming occuring?

2. If it is, why?

I think I can make a good case for 1 and that 2 is tougher and more circumstantial. I also wanted to give people who disagree a forum to disagree, to see if any substantial arguments to the contrary appear that I hadn't considered.

Anyway, I will put up part two soon, and I will indicate the source on the link in part 1 so that people can consider if they are biased or not.
