You have to determine the critical processes and devise improvements there.

Reducing a bottleneck may cost you $$ but can increase overall production rate.

All the above, ask the people doing the job and give them an incentive to work faster/smarter.

Are your parts good? What is the limiting factor on the production capacity right now?

1. Ensure only good parts get to your line.

2. Provide mechanical assistance to assemblers in the form of pneumatic/electric torque drivers for fasteners.

3. Ensure your work instructions are top quality and leave nothing to interpretation. Pictures are better than words, and usually, but not always, better than drawings.

4. Balance your people to the sub-assembly construction and give them "standard work" of a duration based on the amount of time you'd like to see a finished unit coming off the assembly line (Takt Time = # minutes in your work day / # units that must come off the line per day)

5. Provide mechanical "helpers" for mating the sub-assemblies to the tractor frames. These should be configured so you can build the sub-assemblies on them, and then have them mobile so you then roll it up to the frame. They should help raise/lower/rotate (whatever) into position.

Just leave off a part here and there. Worked well for some of the US manufacturers of cars in the seventies.

Standardize work instructions and Train all employees.

Engineer the process to improve ergonomic s for your employees.

Create robust procurement and supply processes to assure all points have adequate parts and supplies at the point where needed.

After you get these done, get back to me and I'll give you three more REALLY GOOD IDEAS!

Oh yup yup yo yup yup yo!

Cause 10 minute breaks to be observed every 2.5 hours, cause at least .5 hour break after 4th or fifth hour of work, cause a two hour break after 8 hours work. Breaks cause greater attention to detail, better workmanship, greater rapport among workers and management creating a smooth operational theater.

Clean the bathrooms, make a safe working environment and create a break area away from and out of hearing of the production line.

Eliminate rework. Design quality into the process.
