EUROPE USER GROUPE

04/23/2008 4:14 AM

Hi guys,

what do you think about the creation of a EU user group?

I belong to the Italian one and I am alone (is there any other Italian between CR4' people?)

Anyway I think it could be interesting to be in touch with other european: we everybody belong to the same bigger country!!!

Also we could know ourselves and if any idea of EC project could arise in the future...

In England I think we are stuck in the mid-atlantic!!!

One foot in Europe the other in America - hedging our bets I guess

I thought the idea was to unite the engineering minds. To bring us together.

As has shown in history division on the bases of race, national origin, religion or for any other reason results in contention.

So I say no.

Your not alone we are all here with you. We need to think as to being part of this world. CR4 world

Re: EUROPE USER GROUPE

Hi Ozzb thanks for your comment! Actually my idea was not to divide Europe from the rest of the world but to put together different cultures and minds!!!

I understand your position but please to understand mine. I live and work in Sicily, I am proud to live here: I feel to be Sicilian, Italian and European but it is not same for everybody. there are a lot of prejudices everywhere in Europe... For you it is very different you live in US, I love US and I come there often so that I know that you Americans love to be American and every american since his childhood feel to be part of a big country, have you ever heard about an East man to feel himself different from a man living in the West Coast of United States? You are usual to bear in a State, to study in another one and to work in a third one... the main part of americans die in a different state than the one in which thet were born! Sicily is still consider outside the Italy by somebody living in the continental part of the name Nation...I can see the same Electroman said: I have one foot in Europe and another one in Africa, and I would like to have more feet to put one in every Continent: I LOVE OUR WONDERFUL WORLD! And I also love to be part of this smaller CR4 one! But please let me know how can us to feel part of the same world when in the old continent we have to quarrel just for a stupid soccer match?

Also, I told you the firm I work for is in Sicily: I have attended a lot of Conferences and Trade show in US, and believe me the first thing Americans say is not "I am looking forward to working with a firm located in Sicily", they say "Sicily?... the Godfather!" Sicily has received a lot of help by EU and thanks that a lot of firms like mine grew a lot (from 3 to 30 employes it is a good growth in 15 years), but we have to do more... in the global economy we need the trust by the rest of the world: so you are still thinking my idea was to divide or join myself to the international community?

I believe divisions of any society is harmful. It creates opening for contention between the groups.

Hi

what can be solved by a local user group only?

If you define your necessities and these cannot be discussed in this forum then let us try a local meeting?, forum?, what else?

I like very much to come to Italy - anywhere from Palermo to Como - beautiful.

This forum is much faster in solving many problems compared to travel and visit.

It may be due language problems. I think few europeans know english so they are not in this group.I am Indian I know there are few other Indians who also participate in discussions. It is because we learn english form school days and our education is in english, may be not as good as a Oxford English.

Re: EUROPE USER GROUPE

I personally see no advantages over what we already have.

If someone could give some convincing argument for a European version, I am prepared to read and consider it.

Up to now, in this Blog, there have been no arguments for a European version that in any way appeal to me.....

In fact I foresee problems of going "Europe", personally I would miss the good interaction with the "rest" of the world!!!!!

Not all good ideas come from the USA, nor do they come alone from anywhere else either!!!

I will continue to read this blog, but will probably not see any further reason to contribute, but time will tell on that one!!

Re: EUROPE USER GROUPE

No, definitely not although I am in Europe and think "European".

If any European wants to have a specific opinion considering conditions in Europe he can put it in his question and he will get it from all other able to give the answer.

From my point of view it is quite interesting to know how engineers from other continents think. It is also very interesting to look at the comments which thread is considered as "of value" how many "visitors" and how many answers for a question. How many of the answers are question oriented and so on.

Hi Rhabe, what do you think about meeting industrial partners for EC project? As you know to have access to EC funds it's necessary to join firms operating in different european countries and have a serious research project. I work with research projects all over the world and sometimes a project needs a lot of money to be developed...

Hi Guest,

with this you are right, but this can be posted in open forum and then the interested European contributors can join.

If you are inside a company that has experience in these largely bureaucratic processes where the results are often only by political decisions, why not, lets try.

I am willing to put my personal share into it. (No company, no organisation).

Yes, there may be Europe specific issues.

But if those are the issues of being proud of, no harm in putting for all world wide.

If those are something, you should be ashammed of, you are right.

For any issues, any person world wide can suggest a good solution. Thus, it is always better to have everything open.

Re: EUROPE USER GROUPE

I personally completely disagree on that point. Sorry about that!!

I feel that the beauty of CR4 is its "Worldliness".......

I get "angles" on problems that I would never have thought about with a purely "European" or "American" or "Indian" or "Chinese" or any single mind set.

We need the mixture as it is now, it works well for us.....I am not against any "good" change, I just feel that this is not one of them.....

You can have a "European" version for you personally if you feel it will be so advantageous..... But do not expect me to bother much with it, ever....

I think most of us agree that we need to retain our "Worldliness", as I put it in an earlier post........

Many thanks to all of the support (from around the World of course!) from within CR4....

We are our own "Region", the CR4 Region / Legion !!!

so you are against classifying? it would be easier to group discussion. i do not mind if there is not a seperate group but there should be a catagory for europe specific and american specific problems like regulations, and govermental issues.

I do not understand the reason. If there is a question related to either European or not European specs, regulations or what so ever it is very easy for the one mailing the question to declare his request as related to specific geographic region.

For instance : Hi, I am interested in the European Norm EN XXXY25 who's able to give me support?

I gave you a GA for this proper and correct answer.

Some of the CR4 users travel and work in any country that needs them, I did for many years, so reading "others people's mail" can be extremely beneficial indeed!!

Also, as an Engineer, I am "nosey" as to how other countries handle and regulate problems, sometimes completely different, but no less effective!!

This often gives me a new slant on items of my particular interest.....

Did you mean "discern"?

If yes, no I do not agree.......

I learned years ago on how to make decisions easily and quickly. I still have that ability, once learned never forgotten (Many thanks to the RN!)

Yes i Meant discern, and what has it to do with decision making?

it has to do with filing information, making it more easy to find.

categorizing makes forum threads more traceable
